Airline Costs

Things are out of control! Now they are going to charge us for checked baggage....do you know what this means? I and millions of others are just going to try to cram more in our carry-ons and stuff them in spaces that are already insufficient! You just wait! They're going to start weighing people in addition to their baggage and charging us for anything over XX? Airlines are desperately trying to balance costs with revenue and they will stop at nothing!

Fuel costs are tripling and account for at least 40% of operational costs. Some charge for telephone reservations, some have eliminated snacks, some even are reducing water for crying out loud.

Oh well, they are just going to treat us like "freight", and you just wait and see....weight-based ticketing is just around the bend.

Try this airlines...fly slower (hey, 600 miles per hour versus 700 ain't bad), don't serve us anything (I'll get my own drinks/snacks if I want before boarding)...food costs on average run 515 million dollars per quarter! Eliminate on-board power, just use some generators when parked,  wash them frequently (you know, dirt can increase wind resistance), forget the pillows and blankets (never have enough anyway), don't advertise as that costs an average of 250 million each quarter (word-of-mouth ought to do it), drop the incentives (I have to charge a billion dollars on my United Mileage Plus card just to get a free trip anyway)...would save about 400 million per quarter, and no movies, I oftencan't see them due to my undesireable middle seat and someone's head in front of me and how many times to the ear pieces malfunction on the headphones!

A bit of advise for us in healthcare...reducing costs is prudent, but if it affects quality, service and outcomes...yikes! There's always a good balance, let's be diligent stewards of the resources entrusted to us while striving to offer the best!
