...$2.6 billion on flowers, $1.5 billion for other gifts, $68 million on greeting cards, $3.5 billion on dining out and 8% of US jewelry industry annual revenue will be from this day!
Way back when in 1870, the original intent for Mother's Day was a proclamation for peace and disarmament after the American Civil War and was to be called "Mother's Day for Peace"...the idea didn't catch on until 1907 when the originator's (Anna Jarvis) daughter started a crusade to found a memorial day for women, so in 1908, the first Mother's Day was celebrated and declared official in 1914 when President Wilson declared that all households should fly an American Flag in honor of moms who had lost a son in war.
Have a great Mother's Day and for those who will be at the workplace on Sunday, take time out to honor a visiting Mom and let them know how much they are appreciated and engage them in the plan of care.
