Keeping Pace with Wanda

$100 for a cup of coffee?

I do enjoy a good cup of joe first thing in the morning, but that's a bit pricey for me...and when you hear the details of this brand, I'm certain you wouldn't pay a nickle for it.....but folks in Britain are apparently willing to.

In the foliage of plantations in Southeast Asia, there are these cat-like animals called "civets" that are consuming ripe coffee berries. Enzymes in their digestive system break down the flesh of the fruit (are you ready for this?) before the animal expels the beans. Plantation workers collect the beans, wash away the dung (thank goodness), roast them and produce a unique drink that might be be good " 'til the last drop" (or should I say "dropping"?).

So, when you're visiting London, check out Peter Jones London Department Store and meet fellow drinkers who have this to say about the drink: "I didn't need any cream and sugar as I normally do", "there's no bitter aftertaste", "it's smooth and a little nutty", but perhaps the most startling is this comment, "it's a bit 'gamy' ". Yikes!

Well, you might want to ask the vendor you frequent, where their coffee comes from and it's processed, as you certainly don't want any "civet" participation.

Seriously, enjoy a good cup of coffee from time to time, watch your caffeine intake, and check out the C-fit link for nutritious ideas. As it begins to warm-up, make sure to drink plenty of fluids (helps to curb the appetite), especially water (oh, and a cup of coffee cannot substitute for a cup of water!).
